Smaller wheels versus bigger wheels

While riding my Activa 5g, i went over a speed-breaker. It hurt so bad that made me hate my scooty as it doesn't have telescopic suspension while all the rest scooters have it. But i had also heard that it feels more due to the smaller size tyres in scooty. So i needed to know what's the truth. And what i came to know i am going to share it to you.

So there are lots of confusion on big vs small tyres, let's tackle them one by one. First question is why bikes have big tyres while scooters have small tyres. There are two answers for that. First is both the vehicles have different utility. In bikes you don't have a leg space or a boot space which are there in scooters, because of large size tyres. Second answer is that bikes have gears and scooters are gearless, so bigger tyres need larger torque to move which can be provided by using gear boxes but in gearless scooters this initial torque is low as there CVT transmission is used.

So these things have huge effects on both the vehicles. Due to larger size tyres, bikes are more stable at higher speeds and thus suitable for cruising whereas scooters have been designed for being agile in heavy traffics, hence also being gearless. So scooters are not stable at higher speeds.

So now question arises, whether bigger tyres are more comfortable on potholes than smaller ones? The answer is yes. The smaller tyres sink in the potholes more than larger tyres so they do hurt you more.
