We dream of cars and bikes and we dream of owning one. We check for mileage, or comfort or music system or boot space or looks of vehicle, but we rarely think of safety we are gonna get. And what i have observed with most of the drivers is that they believe that nothing is going to happen to them which for me is a foolish mindset. Its not just about the safety of the passengers but also the safety of people outside. So here we will talk about safety features in both cars and bikes. Some features come only in cars, those will be mentioned within the feature description.
Seatbelt- the most important feature in a car. This helps you a lot when you get in a collision. It reduces the force of impact of accident, keeping you positioned close to the seat and away from bumping your head into the steering wheel or somewhere else.
ABS- Anti-lock Braking System, found in both cars and bikes. Normal brakez lock the wheels when applied, this creates a situation of the vehicle getting slipped or out of control. So ABS prevents locking of the wheels, preventing skidding of the vehicle and giving you the control of the vehicle.
ESC- Electronic Stability Control found in cars. When the vehicle is skidding due to loss of traction, it detects the skidding and improves the vehicle stability by applying brakes. It is a completely computerized system.
EBD- Electronic Brakeforce Distribution given in cars. Its purpose is to distribute the amount of brakes applied in each wheel according to the situation without compromising vehicle stability.
Airbag- Airbag is simply a bag that's hidden in the steering wheel and the dashboard and similar places in the car which inflates quickly in times of collision. It is a cushion of air that protects the passenger.
So these are the most important features that your car must have. And your bike must have ABS with it. There are many other features like seat belt reminders, speed warning alarms but they are more like awaring the driver so they are not worth mentioning here.
Other thing is that these safety features are categorized in two sets- before accident and after accident. Before accident safety features help in preventing accidents. Examples are- ABS, EBD, ESC. After accident features help in saving lives of the passengers after accident has happened. Examples include airbag and seat belt. So next time you drive your car, must wear seat belt and if driving your bike, don't even think without helmet.
